A salmonella outbreak has caused a recall of eggs sold in Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.

In a notice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published on Sept. 6, eggs from Milo's Poultry Farms, LLC with possible salmonella were sold to grocery stores and restaurants in the three states.

Eggs under the labels Milo's Poultry Farms or Tony's Fresh Market are all part of the recall and it includes all cartons and carton sizes as well as all types of eggs such as cage-free and organic.

Currently, the CDC reports 65 illnesses, 24 hospitalizations, 0 deaths. The investigation into the outbreak is ongoing.

Here is what the CDC advises you should do if you think you've gotten sick from eating the eggs:

Do not eat any recalled eggs. Throw them away or return them to where you bought them.

Wash items and surfaces that may have touched the recalled eggs using hot soapy water or a dishwasher.

Call your healthcare provider if you have any of these severe Salmonella symptoms:

* Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102°F

* Diarrhea for more than 3 days that is not improving

* Bloody diarrhea

* So much vomiting that you cannot keep liquids down

* Signs of dehydration include not urinating much, dry mouth and throat, and feeling dizzy when standing up.

Symptoms of Salmonella

* Most people infected with Salmonella experience diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps.

* Symptoms usually start 6 hours to 6 days after swallowing the bacteria.

* Most people recover without treatment after 4 to 7 days.

* Some people-especially children younger than 5 years, adults 65 years and older, and people with weakened immune systems-may experience more severe illnesses that require medical treatment or hospitalization.
