Woman facing charges after 'self-inflicted' attack in Silver Creek Metro Park: Court records

BARBERTON, Ohio (WOIO) - Charges have been filed against the woman who originally claimed two men attacked her with an unknown substance on her legs at a Summit County Park before admitting the injures were self-inflicted.

The Doylestown woman faces charges of inducing panic and making a false alarm, both misdemeanors, according to Barberton Municipal Court records.

The incident happened on the Chippewa Trail at Silver Creek Metro Park on Sunday, July 28.

"We understand that this incident has caused significant fear for our park visitors. We hope that the conclusion and outcome of this case will reassure those who were wary of visiting the trails, as there is no public threat resulting from this false claim," Summit County Metro Parks Chief of Marketing & Communications Lindsay Smith said previously. "We hope through this unfortunate circumstance the person involved receives the care and support she needs."
