Bitcoin (BTC USD) has had a volatile year, once on track to potentially double to $200,000 in 2025, it is now down 7% for the year. Meanwhile, other cryptocurrencies have outperformed it, with Hyperliquid (HYPE) leading the charge, as per a report.
Hyperliquid has risen 35% this year and now ranks among the top 12 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, as per The Motley Fool report. Investors and traders are taking notice of its rapid growth.
Cathie Wood of Ark Invest has suggested that Hyperliquid is starting to look like the next Solana (SOL), as per the report. Like Solana in its early years, Hyperliquid is experiencing fast growth and operates on a blockchain capable of very high transaction speeds.

Since its official launch in November 2024, Hyperliquid has jumped nearly 1,000%. By comparison, Solana has grown over 25,000% since its launch in 2020, highlighting the potential upside for Hyperliquid. A critical factor for its future will be maintaining a strong position in cryptocurrency perpetual futures, or "perps," as per The Motley Fool report.
While Hyperliquid has outperformed Bitcoin over the past year, sustaining that performance over the long term is a different challenge. Bitcoin has been one of the top-performing cryptocurrencies globally for over a decade, and Hyperliquid still has a long way to go before it can be considered a reliable long-term investment.
Although its debut has been impressive, experts caution that it may be too early to fully embrace the hype surrounding Hyperliquid.

Spot XRP ETFs have exceeded expectations, providing a major boost to the price. Since the debut of Canary's $XRPC on November 14th, the class has already seen nearly $650 million in inflows. Analysts remain bullish on XRP's short- and long-term prospects, with price targets ranging from $3.50 to as high as $7 in the coming months.
Kaspa is currently one of the top-performing crypto assets. According to CoinMarketCap, KAS has posted the highest gains of any top 100 cryptocurrency over the past 24 hours, surging more than 20%. Historically, coins that bounce strongly during market-wide rallies tend to outperform once a bull market starts, making Kaspa a standout, as per the CryptoDNES report.
Despite its popularity, KAS is still trading 70% below its all-time high. It has broken out of a multi-month downtrend, indicating that its bull run may just be beginning. Monad, a new high-performance Layer 1 blockchain, is gaining viral attention.
