LPD releases names of 2 people seriously hurt in crash involving a semi

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Police responded to a crash in east Lubbock that left two people seriously injured on Tuesday morning.

Just before 6:45 a.m., officers were called to a crash with injuries involving a semi-truck in the 7000 block of Southeast Drive near Loop 289.

When officers arrived, they found 64-year-old David Chavera, who was driving the semi, and 53-year-old Isabel Torres. the driver of a pickup, with serious injuries.

According to Lubbock Police's initial investigation, Chavera was driving northwest when he crossed into oncoming traffic. He collided with Torres who was driving southeast.

Chavera was taken by EMS to Covenant Medical Center. Torres was taken by ambulance to UMC.
