Liverpool can use secret weapon to bring £75m Luis Diaz replacement to Anfield next summer

Liverpool are starting to feel the effects of the void left by Luis Diaz.

The Reds had a near-perfect transfer window this summer and not only recruited well, but made some very shrewd sales in the process.

One of these was selling winger Diaz to Bayern Munich for £65.5m, meaning they more than doubled their money after signing him for Porto three years prior.

At the time, it looked like an excellent piece of business, but in hindsight, it may have been a mistake.

Liverpool are now left short of left-wing options while the Colombian shines in the Bundesliga, with their failure to sign a replacement now proving to be a problem.

However, the Reds are already planning ahead and may have found the perfect player to come in for him instead, and they may just have a secret weapon to help beat off competition.

The Premier League is stacked with talented wingers so the Reds will not be short of options, but there is one who is standing head and shoulders above the rest as of late.

Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo has flown out of the blocks this season, scoring six goals and assisting a further three as the Cherries recorded their best start to a campaign ever.

He also impressed last season as well, with many top clubs interested in his signature, and Liverpool are one of them according to Alex Crook at talkSPORT.

Richard Hughes is said to be a 'big admirer' of the Ghanaian's, with the sporting director perhaps being able to use his connections with his former club to give Liverpool the edge in the race for the winger.

Crook reports that Bournemouth value him at north of £75m, with his performances this season only giving the Cherries further incentive to demand such a high asking price.

Tottenham and Manchester United are also keen, but as Hughes signed him for Bournemouth from Bristol City for just £10.5m, he might be able to bring him to Anfield too.

He has already used his past to help sign left-back Milos Kerkez this summer, and with the left-wing spot at Liverpool very much up for grabs, Semenyo seems the perfect fit.

There is no denying that Semenyo is a quality player, but just like Sadio Mane for Southampton in 2016, it feels like he is capable of taking it to the next level.

This 'next level' is becoming a superstar just like Mane did, and Semenyo certainly has all the ability to become just as good as the former Liverpool man.

He is quick, tricky and certainly has an eye for goal, all traits that will make him a great fit for Arne Slot's side.

Granted, he would cost a fair bit of money, but with the Diaz sale, Liverpool would only have to pay £10m out of their own pocket to sign him, something that seems like a no-brainer.
