EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WTRF) -- A suspect has been arrested after East Liverpool police asked for the public's help identifying the owner of a dog that was reportedly starved, neglected and abandoned on Ravine Street earlier this week.
Police first posted the appeal Monday, asking if anyone recognized the dog after witnesses reported seeing it dropped off or possibly thrown from a moving vehicle early in the afternoon. Officers said the animal appeared severely neglected and urged residents to call with any information.
Investigators also asked residents in the Bradshaw and Ravine Street area to check home security cameras between 5 and 5:30 p.m. in hopes of identifying whoever left the dog behind.
A day later, police announced the case had moved quickly.
"Thanks to the hard work of Detective Price, an arrest has been made," the department said in an update. A suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Columbiana County Jail.
Police said the abuse occurred outside East Liverpool city limits. Detective Price is coordinating with the appropriate jurisdiction as the investigation continues.
Anyone with additional footage or information is asked to contact East Liverpool police at 330-385-1234, ext. 1.
