Asked what was coming up for Karl, Alan replied: "A change of direction. He gets involved in another area of work, which eventually ends up being connected to the show's ending.
"So I'm quite involved in that process all the way to the end, which is lovely. I had some really great work to be doing."
Holly Hoyland attends her first ultrasound appointment and is supported on the day by her stepmum Susan Kennedy. She's surprised when Max Ramsay turns up, wanting to show his loyalty as Holly has misled him into thinking that he's the father.
Wendy Rodwell is also at the hospital for a check-up following the recent accident. She realises that Holly must be pregnant and shares the gossip with her husband Andrew, who's shocked.
Holly becomes overwhelmed by her own lies as Max expresses his excitement over the baby. When she rushes off for some time alone, Max and Karl both go looking for her.
Andrew finds Holly first and begs her to tell the truth over whether the baby is his.
Elle Robinson decides to play matchmaker between Colton Keys and Zac Willis, not wanting them to miss out on a chance for love, like she has herself in the past.
