Paris Hilton, Tornante, Andrew McMahon Team to Develop Amazon Series 'Aught to Be' (EXCLUSIVE)

Amazon is currently developing the romantic comedy series "Aught to Be," Variety has learned exclusively.

The half-hour series hails from the Tornante Company, with Paris Hilton attached to executive produce under her 11:11 Media banner. Andrew McMahon, the front man of bands like Jack's Mannequin and Something Corporate, will also executive produce, as the show is inspired by his hit song "Konstantine."

McMahon will also contribute original music and his classic hits to the series, while sources say that Hilton is in talks to serve as the series' narrator, though that deal is not closed at this time.

The official logline for "Aught to Be" states that it "follows one couples' years-long love story told through the unforgettable pop culture moments that shaped the early 2000s and beyond. Each episode captures a key moment in their evolving relationship, set against the backdrop of cultural milestones like TRL, Sidekicks, and the birth of social media. The show blends heartfelt emotion with the soundtrack of a generation."

Pat Cunnane is the creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Along with Hilton, Bruce Gersh of 11:11 Media will executive produce, as will Tornante's head of development Adam Londy and Tornante's Eric Eisner and Evan Lesser. Amazon MGM Studios will produce.

Hilton emerged as a major cultural figure in the early 2000s, including her starring role in the hit reality series "The Simple Life" with Nicole Richie. She has since starred in shows like "Paris in Love" and "Cooking with Paris." As an actress, she been in films like "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton" and "House of Wax," as well as shows like "The O.C." and "Supernatural." She has also released two studio albums and published three books, including her 2023 memoir "Paris: The Memoir."

She is repped by UTA and Jill Fritzo PR.

Tornante, which was founded by Michael Eisner, is perhaps best known for producing the hit Netflix adult animated series "BoJack Horseman." The company recently re-teamed with "BoJack" creator Raphael-Bob Waksberg on the Netflix animated series "Long Story Short." Additional credits include the Netflix/Adult Swim show "Tuca & Bertie" and the Amazon series "Undone."

Cunnane recently co-wrote the upcoming A24 film "Eternity" and previously worked on the hit political drama "Designated Survivor."

Cunnane is repped by CAA, Heroes and Villains Entertainment and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. McMahon is repped by C3 Management, WME, and Press Here Publicity.
