At 25 years old, Nolan Gorman is a promising outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals who could be among the names placed on the trading block this offseason.
Despite being regarded as a player with high potential, Gorman has shown inconsistent performances and struggles in certain areas, such as plate discipline and strikeouts.
Adding to this, the team has many left-handed hitters, and Gorman is currently one of the weaker links heading into the offseason -- especially with Nolan Arenado locked in at third base for 2026 and 2027, and JJ Wetherholt settling in at second base.
Curt Bishop of Fansided.com discussed the situation, noting that the Cardinals' new president of baseball operations, Chaim Bloom, could pursue major trades in the offseason.
"The Cardinals need to make room for some of their right-handed hitters, such as Thomas Saggese, Jordan Walker, and promising Blaze Jordan," Bishop writes. "And while the talented JJ Wetherholt bats left-handed, the Cardinals need to make space for him in the starting lineup in 2026."
The expectation is that the offseason will be quite active for the Cardinals under Bloom's leadership.
