Port-au-Prince Haitian Cuisine chef-owner Don Berto announced that his restaurant will close permanently this weekend with a Haitian Flag Day celebration from 3 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 18.

Berto posted on Instagram on Friday night that rum cakes, coconut creams, and hot sauce will still be available for purchase.

The restaurant at 7912 Georgia Ave. opened in 2018 after operating for several months as a pop-up and earned a spot on Eater's list of the 20 best patios for outdoor dining around D.C.
