An inmate in the Forsyth County Jail was charged with murder Monday in connection with a Winston-Salem woman's death in April, authorities said Tuesday.
Troy Damentrice Abbitt, 24, is accused of killing Shannon Denean Clark, 59, of North Main Street, Winston-Salem police said.
Abbitt is an inmate in the Forsyth County Jail, where he faces the murder charge and related charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and discharging a firearm into an enclosure, police said.
Clark was shot shortly before 2:10 p.m. April 14 in her home in the 1300 block of North Main Street, police said at that time. Officers found Clark dead from gunshot wounds.
Abbitt is being held in the jail with no bond allowed, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said. He is scheduled to appear Friday in Forsyth District Court.
