Co-op store opens after three month closure for refurb - look inside

A convenience store has reopened with a new look after being closed for three months.

The Co-op on Bassett Green Road in Southampton has relaunched after a 12-week refurbishment, with a refreshed layout, updated design, and an expanded product range.

The upgraded store now offers a wider selection of hot food, a Costa Coffee Express, fresh bakery items, ready meals, Fairtrade goods, flowers, pizzas, and beverages.

Colin Hayward, area operations manager for Co-op, said: "We are delighted to invest in Southampton.

"The store has been completely transformed with a fresh new look and layout to enhance the shopping experience.

"We're proud to be part of local community life.

"We have a focus on being a hub locally for the community, delivering the quality, choice, value and added services which can be enjoyed by everyone - we're here to contribute to local life and conveniently serve and support the community."

The shop, which employs 14 people, is part of the Co-op's wider investment in its store network.

The transformation includes new flooring and ceiling, and the latest refrigeration.

Other services available include the National Lottery and PayPoint, with additional parcel collection options due to be introduced soon.

The store will soon host an InPost Locker as well as Amazon and DPD pickup points.

Online home delivery is available through Deliveroo, Just Eat, and Uber Eats, with orders prepared in-store and delivered to customers in under an hour.

The refurbished branch is one of 50 new or upgraded Co-op stores opening across the UK in November and December.

The retailer also emphasises its commitment to British agriculture, with all fresh and frozen meat sourced from UK farms.

The store supports sustainability through a soft plastics recycling scheme, allowing customers to return items such as crisp packets, bread bags, biscuit wrappers, and pet food pouches.

The Co-op describes itself as one of the world's largest consumer-owned co-operatives, with more than 180 years of history and a membership base of around seven million.

The Bassett Green Road store is open daily from 6am to 11pm.
