More than 2,200 hospital workers in Swindon have received vaccinations in preparation for the flu season.
The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust reported a campaign to protect staff against the early arrival of flu this year.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) recently noted a nationwide increase in flu cases.
According to the trust, vaccinating hospital staff is crucial to safeguarding patients and healthcare workers alike.
Laura, a critical care nurse at the trust, also used the opportunity to debunk a common misconception regarding the flu vaccine.
She assured the public that the flu jab does not cause flu.
According to the trust, getting a flu vaccine is the "best way to protect yourself, your loved ones, and our patients this winter."
The campaign is backed by the NHS Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon, and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), which has joined forces with the trust to encourage the public to get vaccinated.
Dr Vinay Takwale, NHS England's South West medical director, said: "Getting vaccinated is vital to help keep yourself and those around you Stay Well this winter - while also helping to reduce the pressure seasonal infections can have on our healthcare service.
"Flu is a highly infectious disease which can cause symptoms much worse than a heavy cold and getting flu or COVID-19 can be very dangerous for those most at risk."
