Sean Rueter has been thinking too much about pro wrestling since at least WrestleMania I, and blogging about it for SBNation & Cageside Seats since around WrestleMania 28.
Signed after competing in 2016's Cruiserweight Classic, Lince Dorado was a fixture in the early days of WWE's latest attempt at a "weight class" for smaller, high-flying wrestlers. In addition to chasing the Cruiserweight belt on 205 Live, Dorado was also a member of the Lucha House Party trio with fellow masked wrestlers Gran Metalik and Kalisto. The group was a consistent presence on television for a couple years, and Dorado (and Metalik) captured the 24/7 championship, but in 2021 all three luchadors were released by the company.
We catch you up on this history because, as the headline told you, Dorado is back with WWE. He wrestled former football player and developmental prospect Joshua Black at NXT's house show in Citrus Springs, Florida last night (Jan. 17).
There were signs of a reunion between WWE and Dorado. In 2023, he shared about a coaching gig at the Performance Center in Orlando.
And just last week, Demand Lucha announced that Dorado was vacating their Premier championship. The Canadian independent promotion also reposted what Dorado shared last night and congratulated him on his WWE return.
We'll see what's in store for the 37 year old in his second stint with with the 'E. We're guessing a player/coach-type role at the PC, but time will tell. For now, we'll join Demand Lucha in congratulating the former Chikara standout on his return.
