CHATTANOOGA,Tenn. (WDEF)- Time is of the essence this weekend. Health experts are reminding folks to set those clocks back as Daylight saving time is coming to an end.
"Our body clock will say it is five o'clock go home. It is time to go home, but our wall clock at work is saying, No, you cannot. It is still four o'clock. So it throws an imbalance in your circadian rhythm," Dr. Anuj Chandra with the Advance Center for Sleep Disorders
Daylight Saving time begins in March and lasts until the First Sunday of November.
Dr. Chandra explains why this time change is important.
"The body does not adjust to that for several days. It is like, if you go to California and come back, or you go to Europe and come back, it takes at least a week, if that, for the body to, you know, adjust. So during that time, it can have a lot of problems," Dr. Chandra said.
Those problems can include seasonal depression, anxiety, and Insomnia.
Dr. Chandra says Children and older adults are affected by the time Change.
"And it affects everyone else who is working like shift work, because they are already in a state of jet lag, and we have so many people who are working in, you know, shift work, you know, especially in our community," said Dr. Chandra.
