There is widespread travel disruption today (October 4) after Storm Amy brought down trees, left train services cancelled or delayed and homes without power.
There were wind gusts of up to 70mph overnight while a yellow Met Office wind warning remains in effect until 11.59pm tonight.
Heavy rain has continued to batter the region with three flood alerts currently in place for the Upper River Irwell catchment with Rawtenstall, Haslingden and Ramsbottom, the Lower River Lune and Conder near Lancaster, and the Upper River Ribble at Hodder.
Residents in those areas are being told to 'be prepared' as 'flooding is possible' with further downpours expected throughout Saturday.
Trees have fallen in Barnoldswick and Eccleston blocking two main roads while there is also major disruption on the train network between Preston and Scotland.
Transpennine Express say the routes to Edinburgh and Glasgow 'are subject to delay and short notice cancellation in both directions'.
A 'do not travel north of Preston' warning was previously issued to customers for Saturday morning until 12pm.
Dozens of properties in Preston have also been left without electricity along with hundreds of homes in Cumbria where there are currently four flood warnings and nine flood alerts in force.
