The Sun will put their perfect record on the line against the Langley Rams
With two games left, the Okanagan Sun are chasing a second straight undefeated BC Football Conference regular season.
Okanagan Sun, 8-0, host the 2-4-1 Langley Rams on Saturday, then finish on the road Oct. 4 against the 0-7 Kamloops Broncos. A sweep would give Okanagan a 10-0 record and back-to-back unbeaten campaigns.
It's been a dominant four-year stretch. The Sun went 10-0 in 2022, 8-1 in 2023 (one game cancelled due to wildfires) and 10-0 in 2024. Including this season, they are 36-1 over that span and 28-1 across the last three completed regular seasons.
Langley is coming into Kelowna, fresh off a 29-29 draw against the Vancouver Island Raiders, and is in a three-way tie with the Raiders and Valley Huskers at 2-4-1 for the fourth and final playoff spot.
Okanagan, blanked the Rams 39-0 in the season opener on July 19 in Langley. Quarterback Liam Kroeger threw for 303 yards, leaning on receiver Jordayne Falconer (five catches, 144 yards). Running back Gerren Hardisty added 42 receiving yards and 70 rushing yards on 16 carries.
Saturday, could also be Hardisty's milestone night. He leads the league with 943 rushing yards and needs 57 to hit 1,000.
Defensively, JaQuintis Summers and Jarveon Williams have led the way all season. Summers notched three sacks in week one and sits at 12 on the year while Williams has 10.
Saturday, is the fourth annual Burn Fund Classic. This year, it's been renamed the Terry Britton Memorial Burn Fund Classic. Britton, who died in February, served with the Kelowna Fire Department for over 30 years and played a role in establishing the KFD Honour Guard. He was also a longtime volunteer with the Sun, serving as their trainer.
The Burn Fund helps burn survivors across the province, with peer support groups, state-of-the-art hospital equipment funding and public education on burn and fire safety.
Through three years of fundraising, the game has raised over $80,000 for the fund, helped with collaborations with the Kelowna and West Kelowna Fire Departments.
The Sun will also celebrate the 2000 championship team, with players and coaches introduced at halftime.
Kick off is at 4 p.m.
