When every second counts, blood products help provide lifesaving care. The start of the new year is one of the most challenging times to collect blood. That's why the American Red Cross and the Derry Police Department are once again teaming up during National Blood Donor Month to encourage more Granite Staters to give the gift of life.
In New Hampshire, the Red Cross must collect 180 pints of whole blood every day to meet patient demand.
By making an appointment to give blood at the Derry Police Department Blood Drive on Friday, Jan. 17, you can help save a life.
Since 1996, the Derry Police Department has collected 13,464 pints of lifesaving blood. The department has set a goal of collecting an additional 195 pints on Jan. 17.
"There is no greater commitment to serve others, that we can make as individuals, than by donating blood. We are proud to be a part of the Red Cross mission to help save lives," said Chief George Feole, Derry Police Department.
The blood drive is at the Calvary Bible Church of Derry at 145 Hampstead Road on Jan. 17 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
