Horse dies in Indiana County barn fire
A horse perished in a barn fire Wednesday morning in Indiana County.
Crews from multiple fire departments were called at about 7:30 a.m. to the blaze along Kauffman Road in White Township.
The fire had been burning for more than an hour before it was spotted by a passerby, Creekside Volunteer Fire Co. reported in a social media post.
Fire crews found the structure fully engulfed and collapsed, according to the Indiana Fire Association.
In addition to the horse, the barn and its contents were lost in the blaze, firefighters said.
The fire is under investigation but is not considered suspicious, Creekside fire officials reported.
Truck fire closes Route 30 in Ligonier Township
The westbound lanes of Route 30 were closed from Ligonier Borough west to the Route 259 intersection Thursday morning as firefighters doused a truck fire in Ligonier Township.
The truck, which was hauling frozen food, caught fire at about 4:30 a.m., according to a Westmoreland County 911 Public Safety supervisor.
