Somalia: Parliament Approves National Independent Human Rights Commission | Horseed Media

Members of the Federal Parliament of Somalia on Saturday approved the Independent National Human Rights Commission during their session.

Minister of Family affairs and Human rights, Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi welcomed the approval of the Independent National Human Rights Commission by the Members of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament today, saying the country is committed to advancing human rights.

"This historic decision marks a significant step forward in strengthening justice, accountability, and the protection of human rights in Somalia. It is a proud moment for our nation and a major achievement for the Somali people. The establishment of this Commission, the result of careful planning and sustained effort, sends a clear message to the world that Somalia is committed to advancing human rights and building strong national institutions", Al-Makhzoumi said.

"Alongside our recent success at the UN Human Rights Conference in Geneva, today's milestone reflects the continued progress of the National Interest Government in promoting Somalia's voice, values, and vision on the global stage", she added.
