Dr. Marla Koroly assumes presidency of the American Heart Association Westchester/Fairfield Board of Directors

MT. KISCO, N.Y., Aug. 4, 2025 -- The American Heart Association, a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives, has announced a new president for its Westchester/Fairfield Board of Directors. Marla Koroly, MD, FACP, MBA, assumed the role effective July 1, 2025.

Dr. Koroly is the associate physician executive for Northwell Health's medical practices across Westchester, Rockland and Fairfield counties. A respected leader in internal medicine and healthcare administration, she brings decades of clinical expertise and strategic insight into the role.

She succeeds Patrick Thomas, M.D., assistant clinical professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, who served as immediate past president of the Westchester/Fairfield Board.

Dr. Koroly earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating summa cum laude and as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She received her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, and completed her internal medicine residency at NYU Medical Center.

"I'm honored to serve as president of the Westchester/Fairfield Board and to help advance the American Heart Association's mission in our communities," said Dr. Koroly. "This is a pivotal time for public health, and I look forward to working with survivors, dedicated volunteers and professionals to promote cardiovascular wellness and equitable health for all across the region."

"Dr. Koroly is a thoughtful leader who understands both the science and the systems that drive better health outcomes," said Dawn French, senior vice president and chief of staff at White Plains Hospital and chair of the American Heart Association Westchester/Fairfield Board. "Her ability to connect with people and inspire action will be a tremendous asset to our mission."

Kristen Alouisa, executive director of the American Heart Association in Westchester and Fairfield Counties, added, "Marla brings a rare combination of clinical excellence, strategic thinking and genuine compassion. We look forward to working alongside her to advance our lifesaving work in the region."

Dr. Koroly will lead the board in guiding local initiatives focused on cardiovascular health, community education, advocacy and research support.
