Kansas guard Shakeel Moore had surgery to repair a broken foot and could miss up to eight weeks, according to the school. He sustained the injury in a recent pickup game. The Jayhawks open their 2024-25 season Nov. 4 against Howard and are expected to be ranked at or near No. 1 in the preseason polls. Moore began his collegiate career began at North Carolina State, where he played in 2020-21. He then transferred to Mississippi State, playing three seasons there. He averaged 7.9 points, 1.8 assists and 23.5 minutes per game in 33 games (22 starts) for the Bulldogs in 2023-24. The Jayhawks, who were 23-11 last season, landed the fifth-year senior guard in June shortly after sophomore guard Elmarko Jackson sustained a torn patellar tendon, which will keep him out for the entire 2024-25 season.
