The New Jersey Athletic Conference released its field hockey preseason poll, and defending conference champion Rowan University earned the top spot.
The NJAC's seven head coaches voted, and the Profs got four first-place votes. The College of New Jersey was second with three first-place votes.
Montclair State earned the third spot and was voted the NJAC's dark horse squad.
Stockton was fourth in the preseason poll. Kean, Ramapo and William Paterson were fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
Last season, the Ospreys went 15-5 and advanced to the NJAC Tourname t semifinals, losing 6-0 to eventual champion Rowan.
Stockton will open its season at home against Arcadia at 7 p.m. Aug. 30 in Galloway Township.
