Big Lots, the national discount retail chain, announced store closures recently, including eight of 14 in operation in Oregon, plus one of two stores in Vancouver, Washington.
Big Lots reported first-quarter sales totaling $1 billion, down 10% from the same period in 2023. The company said the sales decline was largely driven by consumers pulling back on spending.

The Oregon stores so far spared closure are located in Bend, Hermiston, Klamath Falls, Medford, Roseburg and Springfield. Big Lots plans to keep one of its two stores in Vancouver, at 11696 N.E. 76th St.
