KYV Verification is Now Required Along with KYC to keep Fastag Active, Know How to Do it - Times Bull

Fastag Update: A major update has been announced for vehicle owners traveling on highways. Now, all Fastag users must complete KYV (Know Your Customer) verification in addition to KYC (Know Your Vehicle) verification. This new system has been implemented by the government to prevent fraud related to Fastags and ensure that the tag is used on the correct vehicle. If you fail to complete the KYV process by the stipulated deadline, your Fastag may be deactivated, and you will be required to pay the full toll fee in cash at the toll plaza. This update becomes extremely important for every highway traveler.

What is KYV and why was it made mandatory?

KYV stands for Know Your Vehicle, meaning vehicle identity verification. This process verifies that the Fastag is being used on the vehicle for which it was issued. It has been observed in many cases that people try to use the same tag on different vehicles, increasing the possibility of fraud. The main objective of this rule is to prevent such misuse and make the toll system transparent and secure.

Required Documents for the KYV Process

To complete the KYV process, vehicle owners must have certain original documents ready. These include a digital copy of the vehicle's RC, the vehicle registration number (VRN), the chassis number, and the mobile number linked to the FASTag account. These details are used to verify your identity and the vehicle's authenticity.

How to Complete the KYV Process from a Mobile Phone

The KYV process can be easily completed via mobile phone. Users must open their banking app or FASTag app and search for the KYV or FASTag Verification option. Following the on-screen instructions, they must upload clear photographs of the vehicle from different angles, clearly demonstrating that the FASTag is properly affixed to the vehicle's front glass. A scanned copy of the RC must also be submitted. After submitting all the information, the verification process will start, and after completion in about seven days, the user will get an update through SMS or email.
