The Vivo S50 series is expected to go official next month in China. Ahead of its launch, a new leak has revealed several specifications about the series, which would likely comprise the S50 and S50 Pro Mini. The leak also suggests that both handsets could shape up to be a meaningful update over the S30 series that launched earlier this year. Moreover, Vivo could rebrand and integrate one of these phones in its upcoming X300 series, like it did with the X200 FE.
Vivo S50 series: Expected specifications
According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Vivo S50 could get a 6.59-inch display, with the same 1.5K resolution, like the Vivo S30. On the other hand, the Vivo S50 Pro Mini is tipped to get the same 6.31-inch AMOLED screen with 1.5K resolution, like the Vivo S30 Pro Mini. Further, both displays are expected to support up to 120Hz refresh rates.
However, the main highlight for the S50 series is tipped to be the inclusion of a periscope telephoto lens. The S50 Pro Mini variant is tipped to feature a triple rear camera system with the same periscope zoom-enabled telephoto lens alongside a 50MP selfie camera. Previous reports have mentioned that the S50 Pro Mini could be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset, which is the last-generation flagship SoC from the chipmaker.
Vivo is reportedly skipping the S40 naming for this series, since the number four is considered unlucky in China. With their compact and sharp screens, versatile cameras, and solid performance, the Vivo S50 series could bring a nice balance of design and performance at a mid-range price.
