New California Law Lets Doctors Secretly Sell Abortion Pills With No Accountability - LifeNews.com

California now allows doctors to prescribe abortion pills without revealing their names, thanks to a new law Governor Newsom signed at the end of last month. This law protects doctors and pharmacists in California who send these deadly drugs through the mail to women in states where abortion is restricted, according to supporters.

Under this policy, pharmacists can remove the patient's name, physician's name, and pharmacy from the prescription label to make it more difficult for abortion pill traffickers to be identified. This information exists in closed logs and is only accessible through subpoena. In addition, the law requires that state-wide health coverage applies to mifepristone (the first drug in the abortion pill regimen), even if FDA approval of the medication changes.

"California stands for a woman's right to choose. I'm proud to sign these bills to protect access to essential health care and shield patients and health care providers in the face of amplified attacks on the fundamental right to reproductive freedom," Newsom stated.

Abortion is not "essential healthcare", and when standard medical practices are ignored in the name of "reproductive freedom," women suffer the consequences. Medication labels are required to include these key components for patient safety and provider accountability, according to the California State Board of Pharmacy's guidelines. When the government removes these safeguards, they play with not only the lives of the preborn but also with the lives of women they claim to serve.

In response to the bills' passage, Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, Assembly Majority Leader and bill author, stated, "With the Governor's signature on AB 260, California will continue to be a national leader in protecting reproductive and privacy rights."

This is part of a growing trend of laws that try to get around other states' Pro-Life protections. Since 2023, 22 states and Washington, D.C., have passed "shield laws" that protect doctors who provide abortions across state lines. These laws let doctors in one state use telehealth to treat patients in another, even if they aren't licensed there. They can also mail abortion pills to states where it's illegal without worrying about losing their medical license or being charged with a crime.

Texas responded to this growing threat by passing the Woman and Child Protection Act in September. This measure allows private citizens, including women who were harmed by the abortion pill, to bring lawsuits against distributors and traffickers of this drug for the purpose of abortion. With the passage of the Woman and Child Protection Act, which addresses the over 19,000 pills smuggled into the state per year, Texas leads the nation as the strongest Pro-Life state.

While California hides behind secrecy and calls it "freedom," Texas is standing for truth and accountability. The contrast could not be clearer: one state shields abortion traffickers, the other defends mothers and their preborn children. The Woman and Child Protection Act proves that Texas will not back down in protecting Life, no matter how aggressively the abortion industry tries to spread its deadly reach. As the battle between Life and death continues to unfold across America, we must remain steadfast -- exposing the lies, defending the innocent, and standing firm until every life is valued and protected.
