A large home was lost to fire Monday afternoon in Wake County, on Cyprine Court.

Neighbors gathered in the street to watch firefighters battle the blaze from the ground and from an elevated position on a crane.

The large, brick home sits in a cul-de-sac, and fire trucks and other emergency vehicles lined the road. One hose was pointed at a neighboring home, in an attempt to keep the fire from spreading.

The home's roof was gone. Flames had burst through the roof and were visible inside the windows.

Smoke could be seen as far away as Cary.

There were no immediate reports of injuries, and it is not clear what started the fire.
