"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives."
If you recognize these classic words, you are familiar with the veteran daytime drama Days of Our Lives, which was renewed by streaming service Peacock for a 61st season. Debuting on NBC in a half-hour daily format in the fall of 1965, Days of Our Lives was expanded to one-hour in April, 1975. In September 2022, it relocated to Peacock.
Set in the fictional town of Salem, Illionois, Days of Our Lives follows the lives of several families including the Bradys, the Hortons, the Carvers, the DiMeras and the Kiriakises. The current cast includes Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Brandon Barash, Eric Martsolf, Carson Boatman, Paul Telfer, Robert Scott Wilson, Raven Bowens, Mary Beth Evans, Dan Feuerriegel, Billy Flynn, Galen Gering, Stacy Haiduk and Jackée Harry.
The renewal comes on the eve of "Day of Days," the annual interactive fan event at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles that was held on Saturday, November 2.
The series is produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television and has earned 62 Emmys throughout its 60-year run. Most recently, the legendary Dick Van Dyke became the oldest Daytime Emmy winner ever at age 98 (for a win in the category of Outstanding Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series for Days of Our Lives).
