Creighton volleyball got a match sweep Sunday and a rare season sweep of a ranked nonconference foe at the same time.

The No. 18 Bluejays beat No. 17 Kansas 26-24, 25-18, 25-22 for their second win over KU in three weeks. CU (7-5) beat the Jayhawks (9-5) in five sets Aug. 31 in Madison, Wisconsin.

Sunday, Creighton got Kansas inside Sokol Arena, and made quicker work of its foe.

Ava Martin's 18 kills helped, as did CU's six service aces, including three in the final set. The Bluejays' defense also held Kansas' offense to a .107 hitting percentage.

Where Creighton had struggled to close out sets against ranked teams before Sunday, it delivered in clutch moments vs. the Jayhawks, getting a Kiara Reinhardt kill to break a 24-all tie in the first set before KU's Rhian Swanson's error on a subsequent point gave the Bluejays the set.

Creighton then broke open a close second set with a 6-1 run that included aces from Martin and Nora Wurtz. The Bluejays scored five of the match's final six points, as well, getting service aces from Martin and Annalea Maeder.

CU heads into Big East play as the annual favorite, hosting Xavier and Butler this week. XU is 11-1 on a diet of non-power conference foes. The Bluejays are 26-1 all time vs. Xavier.
