It's an event that is always a sell out, with a reputation for spreading plenty of festive cheer and a Winter Wonderland in one of the most stunning parts of Northumberland is ready to welcome guests for Christmas 2025. And there are plenty of attractions lined up from reindeer, Father Christmas and Mrs Christmas and cosy lodges you can stay the night in.
The regular readers of ChronicleLive amongst you will have no doubt noticed that we've been writing about Christmas for a while, even though we've had one of the hottest summers in the North East for a while. Yes, even when temperatures have been hovering around the dizzy heights of 30 degrees, we've been reporting on festive events you can book up for well in advance.
In the last month alone, WHitehouse Farm caused a ticket frenzy as families rushed to book up for Santa's Enchanted Elf Journey, while there is also sure to be big demand for the return of Redfox Garden World's always popular event. There have already been over 6,000 sign ups for tickets for the eat-along screenings of Elf at Eatflix, while there has also been great interest in the arrival of a pop-up retro Christmas bar and cinema in Newcastle city centre in November.
And somewhere else that is sure to have plenty of visitors in the run up to December 25 is Kielder Winter Wonderland. While a lot of people flock to Winter Wonderland in London year after year, we're going to be slightly biased here and, say, that when it comes to magical surroundings, the Hyde Park event can't hold a candle to Kielder. In the stunning setting of Kielder Water & Forest Park, around a 50 minute drive from the heart of Newcastle, the Winter Wonderland is one of those Christmas experiences that can't fail to warm the cockles, as well as keeping the whole family entertained.
An online teaser for this year's event reads: 'Kielder Winter Wonderland is a full day experience packed full of festive activities to keep you and your little ones entranced all day. Your full day will include everything from helping Mrs Christmas get ready for Christmas to helping in the elves workshop to walking through the forest to find Father Christmas plus lots more! With the forest home to Father Christmas and his festive friends you never know who you could bump into!'
Kielder Winter Wonderland dates for Christmas 2025 are: November 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, and 30 and then December 6, 7, 13, 14, 19 20, 21, 22 and 23. Ticket prices are £5 for under 2s and from £38.50 for all other children and adults. There is also the option to stay the night in one of 32 heritage lodges of 17 woodland lodges, which Winter Wonderland claim bring visitors 'the perfect home-from-home experience with an added touch of luxury some with some magical additions.'
