Jeremy J. Mills

Jeremy J. Mills passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at his Chattanooga, Tennessee residence surrounded by love.

Jeremy was born to Jesse and Bonnie Mae Mills on March 4, 1981. He attended Howard High School and later obtained his High School Equivalency Diploma from the State of Tennessee. Jeremy met the love of his life, LaShondra Redding and they were married in 2012, at The Georgia Winery. Two years later they both welcomed their son, Brenton.

Jeremy was employed with Vincent Printing, Inc. for over 10 years before becoming an employee of Gestamp Chattanooga as a metal finisher. Jeremy was a dedicated employee at both jobs and developed numerous friendships. Jeremy was a member of Piney Woods Baptist Church and after marriage he later joined Rock Island Missionary Baptist Church.

Shortly after a diagnosis of Covid, Jeremy could not get rid of his headaches and sought medical professional help. After numerous rounds of failed migraine medications, a CT scan was ordered and revealed a Grade II Meningioma brain tumor. A couple hours after the brain surgery was performed, Jeremy had a scalp hematoma that burst and caused an Ischemic and two Hemorrhagic strokes. Following the strokes, Jeremy began having focal (silent) seizures that no one caught until it was too late. The focal seizures turned into Grand Mal Seizures and once they started they did not stop. The more Jeremy fought the more seizures he would have until they crippled his body and made him bed bound. Even while sick Jeremy continued to fulfill his husband and fatherly duties to the very end.

Jeremy was preceded in death by parents, Jesse and Bonnie Mills; nephew, Thomas Ruffin, III; father-in-law, Alvin Redding.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, LaShondra Mills; son, Brenton Mills; brother; Thomas (Tasha) Ruffin, Jr.; cousin brother, Richard Jones, Jr. (Ashley); sisters, ReNesha (Moses) Redding, Janis Redding and Erica Pittman; mother-in-law, Jeanine Redding; nephews, Travius Ruffin and Tyrell Williams; special childhood friends, Minister Marcus (LaKiesha) Cosey and Tyrone Griffin; special caregivers; J'Naye Murray, Darrica Robinson, Tina Reid, Paige Dyer and Donald Staples; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, friends and godchildren.

Public viewing will be from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, March 14, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at noon at Community Missionary Baptist Church at 1001 East 8 Street.

Interment will take place at Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423 622-9995.
