Haraldur Thorleifsson, better known as Halli, announced yesterday on X that open a new creative community space, Hlemmur.haus, is set to open on October 1.

It's been three years since the launch of Hafnar.haus, Reykjavík's creative community space. "It's a non profit so we can offer very low rent on studios, as well as a community of 300 like-minded-people," said Halli.

"Today we're opening up applications for a second location, with space for a few hundred more," reads the announcement.

Hlemmur.haus will open its doors on October 1, 2025, offering affordable studio spaces at Laugavegur 114-116.

Haus is a non-profit organisation founded in 2022 by a team of Reykjavík creatives led by Haraldur Thorleifsson. The founding team includes performance artist Ragnar Kjartansson, musician Ólafur Arnalds, film editor Elísabet Ronaldsdóttir, community leader René Boonekamp, clothing designer Magnea Einarsdóttir, artist Melanie Ubaldo, singer-songwriter Nanna, entrepreneur Davíð Helgason, and design leader Paul Bennett.
