WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - Wednesday will be relatively calm compared to what we have coming on Thursday.
Thursday has been the day we have been talking about all week, and a First Alert Weather Day is now in place due to snowfall potential. Communities south of Highway 64 will certainly pick up their biggest snowfall of the season. Some breezy winds will allow snow to blow around as well, and snowfall will be hard enough at times that it will accumulate on roads. Snowfall totals could get as high as 4-6'' in some communities, with a few communities picking up even higher totals. The heaviest snowfall will occur from about 11 AM-5 PM. Snowfall should wrap up by the time you drive into work Friday morning.
Road conditions should improve by the end of the week and into this weekend, but it will also get cold out. Highs will top out in the upper teens and low-20s with single-digit lows each of Saturday & Sunday mornings.
By the middle of next week, mild air returns to north central Wisconsin, meaning the odds of us having a White Christmas are going to be pretty low even with the snowfall expected this weekend. It will not be as warm as the 50s we got on Christmas last year, but some of us could get into the upper-30s or low-40s by Christmas Eve & Christmas Day next week.
