MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Selmer police officer and another person are dead after an officer-involved shooting in McNairy County, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed.
WREG reached out to the TBI asking for information and received the following response:
At the request of 25th Judicial District Attorney General Mark Davidson, TBI agents are investigating the circumstances leading to an officer-involved shooting in McNairy County involving officers with the Selmer Police Department. The incident occurred this afternoon in the 100 block of New Bethel Road in Selmer. Two individuals were fatally shot during the incident, one of which was a Selmer police officer."
The identity of the officer and the other individual are unknown at this time.
