First concert scheduled at Gretna Crossing Park amphitheater

Gretna will kick off a new chapter at Gretna Crossing Park with its first-ever concert Sunday, Sept. 22, at the park's Gretna Auto Amphitheater.

The facility has seen only limited use since the park opened a year ago.

The event will open at 3:30 p.m., followed by the concert at 4:30 p.m., according to a flyer on the City of Gretna's website. Mod AC, an a capella group from Gretna High School, will start kick off the event, followed by Shucks Brothers Blue Grass Band at about 5:15 p.m., with activities wrapping up at 7:30 p.m.

There will be cornhole and Giant Yard Pong, Connect Four and Jenga for recreation, and the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office will hold a meet-and-greet. There will also be food trucks, Prime Time Ice Cream and a beer garden.

"It's been such a great year with our community's new park," Gretna Mayor Mike Evans said. "Seeing so many people using either the fields, the playgrounds, the dog park or catching fish in the pond, it really has been a wonderful addition to Gretna. In just a year, YWCA has over 10,000 members and saw over 70,000 users this summer."

The amphitheater will also be used for a talent show, Gretna's Got Talent, Saturday, Sept. 21, from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information or to register, visit the Gretna Schools Foundation's website at gretnaschoolsfoundation.org.

"The park was designed to offer something for everyone in the community, and seeing the amphitheater used for two events this weekend is exciting," Evans said. "I hope everyone comes out to enjoy this fun event and their park."
