Penn State QB Drew Allar Predicted to Replace Polarizing $230 Million Quarterback

Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar is having himself a season in 2024 which is only helping his NFL draft stock. The latest mock draft projections give Allar a chance to be selected in the first round.

Athlon Sports' Luke Easterling is a bit more bullish on Allar as an NFL draft prospect than some. The analyst's latest mock draft has the New York Giants snagging Allar with the No. 9 pick as Daniel Jones' replacement.

Through seven games, Allar has thrown for 1,640 yards, 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions while completing 71.3% of his passes. Allar has also added 129 rushing yards and 3 TDs on the ground.

USA Today's Andrew Harbaugh offered an intriguing NFL mock draft for Vikings Wire. The mock projects the Cleveland Browns will take Allar with the No. 8 pick.

"This class is going to be full of players being overdrafted initially, but they are investing in what they can be," Harbaugh wrote on Oct. 31. "The Browns are likely stuck with Watson for one more year, Drew Allar will need some time to marinate in the NFL.

"It will all work out for them, and Allar's play style will fit perfectly with what Kevin Stefanski wants to do."

Between the off-field issues and guaranteed money, the Browns would likely love a mulligan on trading for Deshaun Watson. The quarterback's five-year, $230 million contract is slated to run through the 2026 season.
