RATHDRUM, Idaho - Firefighters responded to a house and nearby mobile home fire Saturday afternoon in Rathdrum.

According to the Northern Lakes Fire District, the blaze on the 7000 block of Winchester Street affected a detached home and nearby mobile home in addition to nearby vegetation.

Fire crews responded quickly to ensure that the flames did not cause a propane tank explosion. As of 2 p.m., plumes of smoke and active flames could be seen rising from the property.

Drivers should avoid that area of Winchester Street for the next several hours as law enforcement assesses the situation.
