National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions announced its 2027-2028 lineup, which includes a solar eclipse itinerary and an expanded season in the high Arctic.
The expedition tour operator/cruise line will include experts on their trips to provide a deeper understanding of the destination travelers are visiting. In total, the company is adding nine new voyages.
"Azores to Barcelona: A Special Solar Eclipse Voyage" will happen July 28 to Aug. 9 on the National Geographic Orion, giving travelers a chance to experience a total solar eclipse at sea. The path of totality will be visible at the Strait of Gibraltar. The itinerary also includes a private visit to the Alhambra, exploring Tangier and visiting Malaga, one of Spain's oldest cities. Naturalists and a National Geographic photographer will be on the sailing.
"Fabled Lands of the North: Greenland to Newfoundland" will bring passengers on a 16-day trip, traveling from Nuuk, Greenland to Newfoundland, Canada. This Arctic itinerary will include kayaking, hiking and Zodiac excursions with an expert team, including staff archaeologists. Cruises will depart on the National Geographic Resolution or Explorer.
"Exploring Patagonia's National Parks from Punta Arenas to Puerto Montt" will dive deep into Patagonia, from Chiloe Island to Torres del Paine National Park on the National Geographic Resolution. Travelers on this 17-day itinerary will be granted special permission to explore Karukinka Reserve, a privately owned natural reserve roughly the size of Rhode Island. Other highlights include navigating fjords, visiting glacial fields and exploring four national parks.
"These journeys are inspired by the curiosity and adventurous spirit of our guests, and they stay true to what makes traveling with us so special: small ships, incredible naturalists and guides, and experiences that bring each destination to life in authentic and meaningful ways," said Lindblad Expeditions CEO Natalya Leahy.
