James L. Schirer February 9, 1961 - August 23, 2024 ROANOKE - James L. Schirer, 63, of Roanoke, IL passed away on August 23, 2024, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. He was born on February 9, 1961, in Peoria, IL to Frank E. and Elaine King Schirer. He married Debra Miller on August 18, 1990. She survives. Also surviving is one son, Joshua (Jenny) Micheletti ; one grandson, Job Micheletti; two brothers: Steve Schirer; Dan (Shelly) Schirer; and one sister-in-law, Lori (Earl) Waughop. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joey Micheletti, and one brother, Jeff Schirer. Jim farmed in the Roanoke-Benson area all his life. He also worked for the Benson Farmer's Coop and the Woodford County Highway Department. He was a volunteer fireman for the Benson Fire Department. Jim had a strong work ethic which showed in his work and working on the family farm. He loved to take rides on his Harleys and had a passion for his motorcycles. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. Dennis Kennell will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Benson.
