Accuracy is king when it comes to NFL quarterback play.
It is something the Raiders' top two quarterbacks, incumbent Aidan O'Connell and free-agent addition Gardner Minshew, must improve upon during the 2024 NFL season.
Both players struggled last season as they both had a high rate of incompletions due to inaccurate throws on pass attempts of 10 or more yards.
O'Connell was tied for the highest (worst) rate of incompletions on such tosses last season as a whopping 50 percent of those throws went incomplete because he was off target. O"Connell started 10 games for the Raiders as a rookie last season.
Minshew also struggled on such attempts, but not as badly. He started 13 games for the Indianapolis Colts last season. He was inaccurate on 46.3 percent of those passes in 2023. It was the fifth highest rate in the league.
It's clear this is an area these players need to work on.
