There is no shortage of innovation when it comes to new IoT and 5G offerings coming to the market as research continues to show ample and growing demand for such things.

According to research firm IoT Analytics, the number of connected IoT devices is set to grow 14 percent this year to 21.1 billion and then continue at a compound annual growth rate of 13.2 percent to reach 39 billion by 2030. That number is expected to reach more than 50 billion by 2035, at which point the firm predicts the market to reach full saturation.

While Wi-Fi and Bluetooth represent a majority of these connections, cellular connectivity offerings, including those for 5G networks, are expected to see high demand in the coming years, with IoT Analytics forecasting an average growth rate of 23 percent for the cellular IoT chipset market -- and even higher for 5G chipsets at 34 percent -- through 2030.

These data points highlight the continued opportunity for vendors to introduce new capabilities for IoT and 5G offerings, including the increasing number of products and services that find themselves at the convergence of these technologies.
