Despite naysayers predicting we democrats would be blamed for the shutdown, the opposite is happening.

In this instance, hammering out the fact we are trying to save ACA subsidies so that people don't end up dead for lack of insurance.
For years this was the strength of the republicans. They would come up with a single issue, encapsulate it in a slogan like " make american great again " and repeat it as nauseum not caring whether it was a lie or not.
That's how you get voters to support you, not by giving lengthy discourses on complex policy issues. The average voter does not follow closely so it has to be kept simple.
Once you are elected, you hash out the policies by enacting them into laws.
