An air ambulance was called to a village in the Rhondda Valleys after a man was taken ill at a cemetery. Police and paramedics were sent to a Ferndale Cemetery, near Maerdy, on Thursday afternoon after a concerned member of the public approached officers on patrol about a man having collapsed in the cemetery.
A Cardiff-based Wales Air Ambulance crew arrived at the scene shortly before 2pm and remained in the area for around an hour. The man was transported to hospital by ambulance for checks.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "On Thursday afternoon, around 1.30pm, officers on patrol were approached by a concerned member of the public who reported that a man had collapsed in the nearby cemetery.
"The officers promptly responded and stayed with the man until an ambulance arrived shortly afterwards. The man was transported to hospital by ambulance for checks." Get the latest Rhondda news first by signing up to our newsletter here.
A spokesman for the Wales Air Ambulance said: "I can confirm that Wales Air Ambulance attended an incident in that area on Thursday afternoon.
