49ers-Rams broadcast doesn't know what Trent Williams looks like

The Amazon Prime broadcast of "Thursday Night Football," had a lot of good things to say about the 49ers' injured star tackle, Trent Williams. The only problem is that the compliments accompanied a shot of the wrong guy.

With less than five minutes to go in the first quarter, Kirk Herbstreit and Al Michaels began to discuss the long list of injuries the Niners have suffered this season, one that includes Williams, who's been out since Week 11 with an ankle injury.

The broadcast then cut to a player in street clothes on the sideline as Herbstreit waxed poetic about how important Williams is to the team. But as the color commentator talked up the veteran offensive lineman, the broadcast showed a completely different player.

"And there's Trent Williams, who's a big part of the grit of that offensive line," Herbstreit said as the broadcast showed defensive lineman Nesta Jade Silvera, a completely different bearded man in a 49ers raincoat. "And they really miss him up front - not only because of his talent, just because his presence and what his presence means to that offensive line and kind of the personality of the offensive line."

Live television is hard, but there's hardly any excuse to not know what the 15-year veteran looks like, even if he's not in uniform. In fact, the clip in question actually showcases his accolades, or, in other words, all of the reasons why Williams should be recognizable to a professional broadcast that has exclusive rights to NFL games.
