SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - One person died at the hospital Wednesday afternoon after a head-on car crash.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:20 p.m., on Gateway Drive, near Brockman McClimon Road.

A 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer was heading west on Gateway Drive, while a 2020 Chevy pickup truck was heading east on the road.

Both cars collided head-on.

The pickup truck driver died at Spartanburg Regional Hospital; the tractor-trailer driver was uninjured in the wreck.

The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office has not yet shared the identity of the individual that died.

The crash is being investigated by SCHP at this time.
