Westville-born Tabitha Edwards thought she was done with work and ready to be a full-time stay-at-home mom, but "challenging times" led her to look for a flexible job.
Five years into working at South Street Saloon in Danville, Edwards says she's discovered a genuine passion for bartending.
"Daily interactions with diverse individuals foster a sense of community, making every day unique, especially when regulars request a signature drink and compliment my expertise -- those moments are truly cherished," Edwards said.
That's her favorite drink to make: anything that brings the customer back to tell her, "that was awesome, and nobody makes it like you."
"Actually, if I had to pick just one, it would be a Long Island," Edwards said.
Her order for herself is apple pie-flavored Dr. McGillicuddy's and Red Bull, or a shot of Fireball with Mountain Dew as a chaser.
Edwards says people should come to South Street Saloon for both the drinks and food, as well as all the outstanding bartenders.
Her favorite memories include the annual summer celebration, even if attendees do get to dunk their favorite bartender in a dunk tank, and last year, when her "Mouse Trap" creation won the Danville AMBUCS Barstool Golf competition.
If she isn't at the bar, Edwards is probably with family at a bonfire, bowling or at the flea market.
