It was a fun weekend in downtown Pierz!

Over the weekend, the Pierz Commercial Club held its second annual Walkin' Wings contest. In addition to the wing contest, they added a Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned event, and we now have the results of who took home some hardware and a chunk of change.

Starting with the Walkin' Wings portion of the weekend, there was a People's Choice winner, and then overall winner of the contest, which saw competitors saucing up wings for a chance at winning up to 1,500 dollars, and or the title of People'e Choice winner.

Taking first place this year was the team named Tipsy Smoker, which I believe repeated as Grand Champion.

In the first year of the MN Masters BBQ contest, there were several categories that someone could have won. The categories people competed in were: Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork, Brisket, and an 'Overall' category.

This year, the first year of the MN Masters BBQ Contest, Son of a Boar was the overall champion. Team Sugar Shack took home the title of top chicken. First place in pork ribs went to team Ash Kickin' BBQ. In the pork category, Son of a Boar BBQ won, with a perfect score, too. For the brisket category, Son of a Boar BBQ took home that title, too.

The team out of Glenwood City Wisconsin posted to social media, thanking the town of Pierz for great hospitality and the Pierz Area Commercial Club for hosting such a great and smooth running event.

You can follow them, and see the post here.

I can't wait to see what's in store next year, along the streets of downtown Pierz.
