Elmore ends with a silver lining

George Elmore took first place at the final round of the F4 British Powerboat Championship - but narrowly missed out on retaining the title he won last year.

Twenty-year-old Elmore, from Chatham, was competing at Stewartby Water Sports Club in Bedfordshire but was up against it after a mishap in qualifying.

Elmore clipped a turn buoy, which meant he started the first race from the back of the grid.

Despite that, Elmore showed grit and determination to come through successfully, putting in a faultless performance to win all of his races.

Elmore's title rival, Ben Morse, entered the final weekend as the frontrunner, holding a 10-point advantage over his fierce competitor, and did enough to hold on to top spot and take the title, with the Medway racer claiming the British silver medal.

The Kingfisher Fire and Security Powerboat Racing Team also celebrated winning the F2 title, won by team owner and manager Ian Blacker.

Team boss Blacker said: "We're only a small race team and it's been an enduring and tiring schedule both physically and logistically over recent weeks, but to see both George and myself occupy the top step of the podium with a double victory in both classes in the third and final round of the British Championship makes it all worthwhile.

"To be crowned the F2 2025 British champion is simply brilliant."
