Microsoft Announces New Xbox Price Increase for US Market

Microsoft will raise the price of its Xbox consoles in the United States. The price hike takes effect on October 3, 2025. The increase affects all current models, including the Series X and Series S.

This is the second price adjustment for Xbox hardware this year. The company cites ongoing macroeconomic pressures as the primary reason.

The price changes vary by model. The entry-level Xbox Series S (512GB) will see a $20 increase, moving to $399.99. The 1TB version of the Series S will now cost $449.99.

More significant jumps affect the premium consoles. The standard Xbox Series X will increase to $649.99. The digital-only Series X model is set at $599.99.

The most substantial increase targets the 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition. Its price will surge by $200 to a new total of $799.99. According to Reuters, this mirrors similar moves across the tech industry.

Microsoft's decision is not an isolated event. Sony increased the price of the PlayStation 5 in August. Nintendo also adjusted pricing for its Switch console earlier this year.

These consecutive hikes present a challenge for consumers. Gamers may find fewer meaningful discounts during the upcoming holiday sales season. The cost of next-generation gaming continues to climb.
